Rebecca S. (Edwards) Pryor

Rebecca S. Pryor, 68, of Ewing, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 5:21 a.m. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Ewing.

She was born in Shawneetown on Jan. 22, 1941, a daughter of Elmo Edwards and Pauline (Curry) Edwards.

Rebecca fell in love with Gordon Pryor, and they married on July 30, 1961, in Equality. They shared a very loving and close marriage of nearly 48 years.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Wayland Middendorf officiating. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reids Cemetery in Shawneetown.Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Rebecca leaves behind a large and loving family to care for and console each other. She is survived by her husband, Gordan Pryor of Ewing; three daughters, Cyndi Kirk and husband Charles of Sesser, Patricia Marona and husband Keith of Pinson, Ala., and Leslie Elliston and partner Moraima Castaneda of Seattle, Wash.; son, Phillip Pryor and wife Carla of Ina; 13 grandchildren, Michelle Donley, Scott Kirk, Michael Barsos, Tami Donley, Jared Gosney, Chris Marona, David Kirk, Timmy Donley, Ryan Kelley, Heather Marona, Terry Pryor, Mitchell Kirk and Zack Marona; five great-grandchildren, Madison Houser, Joseph Houser, Wesley Houser, Tegan Donley and Draven Gosney; and a brother, Dennis Edwards and family of Kell.

Rebecca grew up helping care for three of her brothers. Her parents and brothers, Bill, Jim and Elmo Edwards preceded her in death. She dearly missed and spoke of them often.

Rebecca enjoyed quilting. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and 34-year member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
