Joseph Otis PROWELL, 73, of Ewing, a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Franklin County, died at 5:30 p..m. Friday at Doctor's Hospital in Carbondale.

Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie TYLER, and three sons by a previous marriage, Percy of St. Joseph, IL; Shelly of Tuscola; and Trellie of Ewing; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Robert A. PROWELL of Benton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Williams Chapel Church where he was a member. Rev. Sam McCOY officiated. Burial was at the Ridge Cemetery under the direction of the Ina Funeral Home.
