Ransom Price

Ransom Price, 77, of Mt. Vernon died 12:56 p.m. Oct. 6, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was retired from Illinois Power Co.,where he had worked as a foreman in the forestry department.

Mr. Price was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Parrish to Ransom and Glenna (Launus) Price Sr.

He married JoAnn (Livesay) Price Jan. 27, 1950, in Benton; she survives.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Tim Coonce will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Price is survived by his wife, JoAnn Price of Mt. Vernon; sons Tim Price of Mt. Vernon, Gary Price and wife Brenda of Mt. Vernon and Doug Price and wife Jan of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Rebecca Price of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren David Price of Mt. Vernon and Caleb Price of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Eloise Hart of Mt. Vernon; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Wanda Ruth.

Mr. Price was a member of Southwest Christian Church and American Legion Post 141. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home, where you may call 242-3348 for obituary information at any time.
