Dorothy "Dottie" Mae (Milazzo) Pool

Dorothy "Dottie" Mae Pool, 66,. Woodlawn, passed away 9 p.m. June 10, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was born in Freeman Spur, Ill., on Thursday, April 16, 1942, a daughter of Leonard and Christine (Null) Milazzo.

She married Vrrgil Larry Pool on Aug. 4, 1961, in Marion.

Funeral services will be 1 :30 p.m. Friday at the Woodlawn First Baptist Church with Pastor Derek Downs officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Dottie Mae is survived by her mother and stepfather, Christine "Nene" Mutchek and Jack "Poppy Jack" of Freeman Spur; husband, Vrrgil Pool of Woodlawn; daughter, Christine Marie "Chrissy" Farina and husband Gary of Aiken, S. C; sons, Larry David Pool and wife Susie of Woodlawn JUld Kirk Douglas Pool of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Anthony Joseph "Tony" Farina and wife Tasha of Aiken, S. C, April Anne Farina anp fiance Christopher Bennet of Aiken, S. C, Nicholas Glenn Farina of Aiken, S. C., Angelina Mae Farina of Aiken, S. C, Matthew Craig Pool and wife Nicole of Mt. Vernon, Michael James Pool and fiancee Ashleigh Hockenberry of Mt. Vernon and Kolton Douglas Pool of Ava; two greatgrandchildren, Bailey Anne. Farina of Pool Aiken, S. C. and Anthony Joseph "Tony" Farina of Aiken, S. C; brother, Samuel "Sam" Milazzo of Freeman Spur; and several nieces and nephews.

Her father preceded her in death.

Dottie Mae worked for Allen Industries and Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory (later Florsheim). She was a nurse's aide at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon for 22 years, was a member of Woodlawn First Baptist Church, was involved with Vacation Bible School, Nursing Home Ministry, Drama Team Ministry and the Senior Ministry.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Woodlawn First Baptist Church Building Fund and will be accepted. at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
