John W. Piper

Pioneer Jeweler Died In Colorado

Ina, Ill., October 27 - John W. Piper, life long resident of this county, died at Denver, Colorado.

The body will reach Mt. Vernon at 8 p.m. tonight (Monday). Funeral services will be held at the Ina Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be had at Cochrum Cemetery near St. Elmo Church in Moores Prairie.

Mr. Piper was about 81 years of age and returned to Denver with his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Gifford, after spending the summer here. Mr. Piper was a jeweler by trade. He was known to most of his friends as "Uncle John".

His wife died a year ago last April.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ida Lewis and Mrs. Nellie Gifford, Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Leota Goddard of Chicago, and Mrs. Sallie Ditchler of Chester.
