Hardy Pigg

Hardy Pigg died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grace Allen, 329 S. 4th street at 4 a.m. today, only 26 days after observing his 75th birthday. He had been bedfast for the past two months.

Funeral services, conducted by the Reverend Cyrus Maulding, assisted by the Reverend Bird Green, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Park Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix until 7 p.m. Saturday, then will be brought to the home of Mrs. Allen, where it will remain until the funeral hour.

Mr. Pigg was born in Illinois, the son of John and Mary Newby Pigg.

Over 51 ago he was united in marriage with Delila Knight, who preceded him in death on October 1, 1940.

He was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Grace Allen of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Florence Badgett of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Albert Bocox of Galesburg, Ill., and Mrs. Margaret Parsh of Chicago; one son, Gale of Flora; and two sisters, Miss Mary Pigg and Mrs. Frances Pigg of Mt. Vernon.
