Frances Elizabeth (Pigg) Pigg

Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Pigg, widow of Granville H. Pigg, died Saturday, September 1, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Hoper, 315 south 2nd street, where she was visiting. She was 88 years, three months and 17 days of age.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm today at the Pulley Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Cyrus Maulding and burial took place in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mrs. Pigg was born May 14, 1857 in Jefferson county, the daughter of John C. and Mary (Newby) Pigg.

She was married May 20, 1877 to Granville Pigg who preceded her in death in 1926. Since that time she made her home with her daughter Mrs. Della Dedman.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Hopper, Mrs. Della Dedman and Mrs. Ethel Russell all of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mary B. Pigg; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Four children, Stella, Frank, Lawrence and Fred preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pigg joined the church at the age of 18 and for 70 years was a faithful member of the East Salem Church.
