Linnie Ethylyn (Gilbert) Philp

Mrs. Linnie Ethylyn Philp of Waltonville died at 2:40 a.m. yesterday in Good Samaritan hospital. She was 88 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Waltonville Methodist church, of which she was a member. Rev. T. A. Shaffer will officiate and burial will be in Knob Prairie cemetery, north of Waltonville.

She had been a member of the Waltonville Methodist church since 1895 and was the oldest member of the church.

The body will lie in state at the Fry Funeral Home in Waltonville where friends may call after 4 p.m. today. At noon tomorrow the body will lie in state until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Philp was born Nov. 9, 1870 in Jefferson county, the daughter of Alvin and Anna (Watkins) Gilbert.

On Nov. 23, 1892, she was married to Walter Philp, who died in 1942.

Survivors include one son, Merritt Philp of Waltonville; one daughter, Mrs. John P. Carson, also of Waltonville; two sisters, Mrs. Stanton Norrris of North Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Curtis Williams of Mt. Vernon; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Philp was preceded in death by three brothers.
