Marvin Dean Phelps
Marvin Dean Phelps, 51, of Opdyke died 9:26 a.m. June 6, 2006, at 
Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.He was an inside truck driver at 
Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon. 

Mr. Phelps was born Dec. 26, 1954, in Mt. Vernon to Charles Dean and 
Louise Maxine (Russell) Phelps. He married Teresa (Aydt) Phelps 
Aug. 10, 1973, in Opdyke; she survives. 

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in 
Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Bud Storey will officiate. Burial will follow in 
Black Oak Ridge Cemetery in Jefferson County. Friends may call from 
5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 

Mr. Phelps is survived by his father, Charles Dean Phelps and wife Doris 
of Opdyke; his wife, Teresa Phelps of Opdyke; a son, Darren Phelps of Opdyke; 
a daughter, Melissa Anderson and husband Brian of Opdyke; two sisters, 
Joyce Louise Pitts and husband David of Opdyke and Debbie June Bryant and 
husband George of Godfrey; two brothers, Jerrell Wayne Phelps and wife Jean 
of Opdyke and Kenneth Dale Phelps and wife Vickie of Dahlgren; three grandchildren, 
Nicholas Anderson of Opdyke, Macy Anderson of Opdyke and Austin Sturgeon 
of Aviston; his mother-in-law, Lorene Aydt of Mt. Vernon; and several 
nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and his father-in-law, Leonard Aydt. 

Mr. Phelps was the assistant chief of the Webber Township Fire Department. 
He was a member of Marlow Methodist Church and the King City Kustom Kruisers. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Marlow Methodist Church and will 
be accepted at the funeral Home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, 
P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted to
