Eloise M. (Staley) Pakish

Eloise M. Pakish, 81, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:06 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Eloise was a retired bookkeeper and attended Christian Central Church in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Jefferson County, the daughter of “Pete” Staley & Edith (Scott) Staley.

She married Edward G. Pakish on August 3, 1965, in Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1978.

The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Following the service Mrs. Pakish will be cremated and her ashes buried at Williams Cemetery in Jefferson County at a later date.

Survivors include four brothers: Dick Staley of Mt. Vernon, Ivan Staley and wife Frances of Mt. Vernon, Bob Staley and wife Pat of Texico; and Howard Staley and wife Phyllis of Mt. Vernon, and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, and brother Elmer Staley preceded her in death.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
