Mrs Elizabeth Owens, aged 70, died in East St Louis yesterday of paralysis and an acute attack of dropsy.

She was the widow of the late Thos. Owens, and for many years resided here.

She is survived by four children, all of whom are residing in East St. Louis.

The children are Mrs. Ettie Beauford, Mrs. Lina Smith, Mrs. Iva Esmon, at whose home she died, and John Owens.

The body will be brought here and taken to the home of R Beauford, 320 Templeton Ave.

There will be a funeral service at the Epworth Methodist church tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Internment at Hopewell.

Mrs. Thos. Owen

The baby [body] of Mrs Thos Owen was brought to Mt Vernon on the 8:57 Southern train last night from East St Louis, and was taken to the Claude Knight's residence on Casey Ave.

Mrs. Owen was the mother of Mrs. Root Buford.

The funeral services were conducted at the Epworth M.E. church at 10 o'clock this morning, and the body taken to the Hopewell cemetery for burial.

**NOTE**
The birthdate on the tombstone at Hopewell (1830) differs from the date that would be calculated (1846) for a date of birth. Census records have the birthdate at 1852.
