William Martin Overturf

W. M. Overturf Dies At Age 92; Funeral Sunday

William Martin Overturf, of Ashley Road. Mt. Vernon, a retired farmer, died at 2:15 a. m. on New Year's Day at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 92 years, nine months and 12 days of age at the time of his death.

He was born in Franklin county, March 10. 1861, the son of Chester Carpenter and Dicie Overturf.

He was married March 23, 1884 to Isabel Norris who survives.

The body was taken to the Kringer Funeral Home in Ashley where friends may call. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. from the funeral home, with the Reverend Kenneth Holland officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Surviving in addition to Mr. Overturf''s widow are five sons, Charley and Edgar of Mt. Vernon, Newton of Saunemin, Ill., Vallie of St. Louis and Earl of Ashley; one daughter. Mrs. Emma Summers of Louisville, Ill., a brother, Newton of Benton, a sister, Mrs. Samantha Arron of Mulkeytown; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A son, William Pearl Overturf, and a daughter, Mrs. Callie Clay, preceded him in death.
