Eva Lee (Uhls) Overturf

Eva Lee Overturf, 78, died at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in Casey Care Center in Mount Vernon.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the Southwest Christian Church in Mount Vernon, with Randy Steele officiating. Burial will follow in the Opdyke Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.

Mrs. Overturf was a homemaker. She was a member of the Southwest Christian Church.

She was born Feb. 23, 1926, in West Frankfort, to Thomas M. and Mabel Lucille (Humphry) Uhls.

She married Edward 'Buck' Overturf on Nov. 3, 1945, in Benton. He survives.

Survivors include her husband, Edward 'Buck' Overturf of Mount Vernon; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Overturf of Belleville, Becky Wall of Mount Vernon, Carolyn and Ed Peterson of Bluford, and Jamie and Dale Pearson of Creal Springs; one son, Casey E. Overturf of Mount Vernon; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wendall and Kendall Uhls; and one nephew, William Edward Rosser, who was raised by Mrs. Overturf and her family.

Memorials may be made to the Benevolent Fund of the Southwest Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home. They may also be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, IL 62864.
