John Thomas "Tom" Osborn

John Thomas "Tom" Osborn, 86, of Mt. Vernon died 11:55 p.m. Sept. 15, 2004, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was employed for 34 years as a field office clerk for Sohio Pipe Line Co.

Mr. Osborn was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Curtis B. and Ina (MacKenzie) Osborn.

He married Nina Pauline (Story) Osborn June 3, 1951, in Mt. Vernon; she died March 17, 2000.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church. Brad Henson and William Fester will officiate. Burial will follow at New Shiloh Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mr. Osborn is survived by sisters Helen Hamilton and husband Roy of Mt. Vernon, Janet Sallee of Mt. Vernon and Edna Bickley and husband Clyde of Scandanavia, Wis.; a brother, Ben Osborn and wife Virginia of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Louise Osborn and Margaret Williamson.

Mr. Osborn was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church. He served as treasurer of the Bonnie Holiness Camp for many years and was very active in this group in many other ways.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church or Bonnie Holiness Camp and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
