Geraldine "Jerri" E. Osborn, 84, of Bluford, passed away at 6:27 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born in Mt. Vernon on June 10, 1924, a daughter of Clyde and Lucy (Quillman) Ward. She married Loren D. Osborn on May 25, 1947, in Jerri's home in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death Oct. 1, 2008. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Revs. Dale Davenport and John Stanford officiating. Interment will follow at Mateer-Davis Cemetery in Wayne County. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Jerri is survived by a son, Dr. William "Bill" Osborn, D.M.D. and wife Betsy of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Blake Osborn of Mt. Vernon, Lacey Osborn of Malibu, Calif., and Ashley Osborn of San Diego, Calif.; stepgranddaughter, Jessica Sylvester of Chicago; brother, Terry Ward of Biloxi, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents; husband; one son, Bob Ed Osborn; and one brother, Bob Ward, preceded her in death. Jerri co-owned and operated with her husband Osborn Grocery Store in Bluford for 30 years beginning in 1947. Jerri had also worked for Western Union for many years and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluford. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the St. Mary Good Samaritan ladies Auxilliary and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt.
