Joseph Oakley

Joseph C. OAKLEY, of Danville, a former resident of Mt. Vernon, died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. He was 58 years, 4 months and 1 day of age.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Ross PARTRIDGE will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Oakley was born November 17, 1895 in Mt. Vernon, the son of James A. and Nellie (RUTHERFORD)Oakley.

He had been a resident of Danville, Ill. for the past 30 years and was employeed at teh C & E I shops there.

A veteran of World War I, he entered the service June 25, 1917 and served with Co. K of the 334th U. S.Infantry. He was a member of the A. F. & A. M. at Danville.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Blanche ALLEN of Mt. Vernon.
