Lorene (Flannigan) Page Newby

M. Lorene Newby, 95, of Mt. Vernon died at 9:45 p.m. February 1, 2003 at Nature Trail Healthcare Center, Mt. Vernon.

She was a House Parent in Glenwood at the Glenwood School for Boys and also worked at the Mt. Vernon Knitting Factory.

Mrs. Johnson (sic) was born October 27, 1907 in Jefferson County to Moses Monroe Flannigan and Virginia Anne (Mabry) Flannigan.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Mike Sheets will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Hughey Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mrs. Newby is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Marie (Page) Osborn of Mt. Vernon and Billie Sue (Page) Quick & husband Bill of Mt. Vernon; five granddaughters, Terrila Kay (Osborn) Marshall, Robin (Osborn) Busenbark, Marsha Sue (Osborn) McClananhan, Paula Jo (Osboron) (sic) Dent, Cindy Lou (Wilson) Zeigler; six grandsons, Paul Jay Osborn, Steven Harold Osborn, Kenneth Lee Osborn, Alan Bryan Wilson, Roger Lee Wilson, Daniel Lee Eubanks; 18 great granddaughters; seven great grandsons; six great great-grand-daughters and six great-great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son Richard Allen Page, four brothers George Lehman, Henry Lee, Ray and Fred; three sisters Jenny Pearl, Josie Mae and Beulah Fay.

Mrs. Newby was a member of Meadow Brook Christian Church, a 75 year member of Royal Neighbors of America, and a house parent for many years at the Glenwood School for Boys in Glenwood.

Memorials may be made to the Meadow Brook Christian Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
