Pearl Henry Nelson

P. H. Nelson Dies At Home Today.

Pearl Henry Nelson died at 12:25 a.m. today at his home on Bell Street of streptococci septicaemia after a severe illness which lasted several days. He was 40 years and 11 months of age..

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Church, conducted by the Rev. Ace Summers and the Rev. P. J Fritz. Burial will be in the nearby cemetery..

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Ruth Wilkerson, to whom he was married December 2, 1930, two sons Russell and Evan Dale, and one daughter, Myrtle Inez..

He was the son of Charles and LaVada (Hayes) Nelson, R.F.D. 6, Mt. Vernon, who survive along with two brothers, Wilford, serving in the U.S. Army in Washington, D.C., and Byford of Michigan City, Indiana., and five sisters, Mrs. Frank Glenn of McLeansboro, Mrs. Sam Haley and Mrs. Clarence Purcell of Bluford, Mrs. Dorothy Wasem of Belleville, and Miss Ferne Nelson, Mt. Vernon..

The body will remain at the Osborne Funeral Home in Dix until 4 p.m. Wednesday, at which time it will be removed to 724 Bell Street.

Mr. Nelson had been an employee of the Mt. Vernon Car Manufacturing Company for the past 25 years.

He resided on a farm northeast of town until a year ago when he moved to Mt. Vernon.

The attending physician said that streptococci septicemia is an infection in the blood stream and that in Mr. Nelson's case it originated with a streptococci infection in the throat.
