Charles B. Nelson

Charles B. Nelson died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Glenn in McLeansboro, at 1:15 a.m. today. He was 82 years, eleven months and one week old.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hopewell Methodist Church, with Rev. L. A. Wagley officiating. Burial will e in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix where friends may call after 6 p.m. today.

Mr. Nelson had spent his entire lifetime in the Range neighborhood until the last few years. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of God in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Nelson was born in Mt. Vernon June 30, 1875, the son of Benjamin Charles and Elisa (Minor) Nelson.

He was married to LuVada Hayes, who preceded him in death Sept. 17, 1947.

He was also preceded in death by two sons and two daughters.

Survivors include two sons, Byford Nelson of Michigan City, Ind., and Russell Nelson of this city; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Glenn of McLeansboro, Mrs. Sam Haley and Mrs. Clarence Purcell of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Emery Becherer of Belleville; two sisters, Mrs. Earl Russell of this city, and Docia Nelson of Decatur, Ill.
