Leonard D. Neideffer

Leonard D. Neideffer, 64, of Mt. Vernon, died 5:45 p.m. May 17, 2002, at St. Mary’s/Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was retired from General Radiator.

Mr. Neideffer was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Centralia to Truman and Ruth B. (Ward) Neideffer.

He married Mary Neideffer June 16, 1959; she survives.

Graveside services will be head 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hopewell Cemetery. The Rev. Merle Fullerton will officiate. Those attending the graveside service for Leonard Neideffer are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Leonard “Sparky” Neideffer and wife Alice of Bluford and Jeff Neideffer of Bonnie; two daughters, Mary Hutcherson Wren of Galveston Bay, Texas, and Alma Curtis of Texico; a sister, Mary Weisbecker and husband Ronald of Wayne City; several grandchildren; a great-grand-daughter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a drummer for a local band, Nelson McCormick and the County Three.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Ill, 62864.
