Burrell G. Minor

Burrell G. Minor, 71, Route 7, Mt. Vernon, died 6:04 am June 6, 1993, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Mr. Minor had been an independent oil operator.

He was born Feb.15, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Avery and Bessie (Copple) Minor.

June 28, 1946, at Zion Church, he married Betty P. Minor, who survives.

Services will be 1 pm Thursday at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Olen Weatherford and Elton Storey, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mark Minor of Whittington officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.

Friends may call 6 to 9 pm Wednesday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.

He attended Zion School, and Mt. Vernon Township High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy achieving the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1376 in Mt. Vernon and Zion Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Minor is survived by one brother, Estel A. Minor and wife Christine, of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Dorothy Greene of Decatur and Patricia Miller of Altona; and several nieces and nephews, Howard Minor of Castro Valley, Calf. Mark Minor and Bruce Minor, both of Whittington, David Minor of Chillicothe, Scott Minor of Mattoon, Rodney Miller of San Diego, Jerry Miller of Reno, Nev., Karen Stevens of Altona, Sharon Armstrong of Decatur, Linda Greer of Soda Springs, Idaho, John O. Jones of Mt. Vernon and Kay Ellis of Henderson Ky.

Mr. Minor was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Howard G. Minor and Eugene Minor.
