Joseph Richard Miller

J. R. Miller Dies; Funeral To Be Thursday

Joseph Richard Miller, 49, died at 8:55 p.m. yesterday, at the home of his brother, Otto Miller, 421 Perkins. A resident of Mt. Vernon for 40 years, he lived at 2206 Lamar.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Myers chapel. The Rev. Otho Williams will conduct the services, and burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery. Friends may call at Myers Chapel after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Miller was born October 11, 1906, in Enfield, Ill. He was the son of Martin and Flora (Thomas) Miller.

He was married to Grace Duncan on May 17, 1930, in Nashville, Ill.

He had been a chainer at the Moss Tie Plant for 20 years.

Relatives surviving are: his wife; one son, Richard L. Miller, of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Otto of Mt. Vernon and Perry of St. Louis; four sisters, Mrs. A.C. Keele of Bonnie and Mrs. Gertrude Hayes of Mason, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
