Kent McGovern Of Nason Died At Age 55

A. Kent McGovern, 55, of Nason died 6:25 a.m. Oct. 21, 1998, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

He was president of Mt. Vernon Truck Body until failing health.

Mr. McGovern was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Nason, a son of Pete and Louise (Dudley) McGovern.

Sept. 3, 1961, in Mt. Vernon, he married Donna Hoffman.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Fry and Frick Funeral Home in Waltonville with Pastor Roger McGovern officiating. Burial will be in Abner Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fry and Frick Funeral Home.

Mr. McGovern is survived by his mother, Louise of Nason; ex-wife and friend, Donna McGovern of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Robert and wife Lisa of Bluford and Logan McGovern of McLeansboro; one daughter, Patricia and husband Floyd Garofolo of Ina; six grandchildren, Shayna Garofolo and special friend Jason Dudley Amber and Christina Garofolo, Doug and Lynsey McGovern and Ryan Brawley; three brothers, Larry McGovern and wife Sandy of Nason, Roger McGovern and wife Angela of Mt. Vernon and David McGovern and wife Debbie of Williamsburg, Va.; two sisters, Joyce Etheridge and husband Bob of Freemont, Calif. and Paula Goessman and husband Ron of New Baden; one aunt, Jo of West Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mr. McGovern was preceded in death by his father, Peter McGovern; one brother; all of his grandparents; one niece, Pam Goessman; one granddaughter, Michelle Brawley; and several aunts and uncles.

He was a 1960 graduate of Waltonville High School.
