Gary N. McAdoo

Gary N. McAdoo, 67, of Bonnie died 8:56 a.m. Nov. 20, 2004, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He first retired from General Radiator and then retired from the state of Illinois as a laborer.

Mr. McAdoo was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Mt. Vernon to Carroll Alonzo and Mary Jane (Mathus) McAdoo.

He married Patsy (Baker) McAdoo June 4, 1957, in Mt. Vernon; she died Sept. 2, 1992.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Don Rector will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the chapel on Wednesday afternoon. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt.Vernon.

Mr. McAdoo is survived by a son, Quint McAdoo and wife Tera of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Peggy Sue McAdoo of Woodlawn; a grandson, Cory McAdoo of Mt. Vernon; a step-grandson, Josh Bauer of Mt. Vernon; a special sister-in-law and dear friend, Betty McAdoo of Bonnie; sisters-in-law Betty Wells and husband Gene of Waltonville, Marilyn Irvin and husband Bob of Bonnie, Lila Ferne McAdoo of Mt. Vernon and Dee McAdoo of Springhill, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Paul Mayberry of Tennessee; a brother, Harley McAdoo of Jackson, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Reeder of Finley, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Guy McAdoo, Harold McAdoo, the Rev. Carroll McAdoo Jr., Billy McAdoo and Bobby McAdoo; and two sisters, DeLores Mayberry and Rena Mae McKitrick.

Mr. McAdoo was a member of Elk Prairie Christian Church.
