James H. Marlin

Dies at Home Near Old Union Church...J. H. Martin died at his home east of Old Union school near Mt. Vernon at 7:30 a.m. today at the age of 78 years, one month and one day.

He was an active member of Hopewell Methodist Church having been a teacher of one of the Bible classes for most of the 38 years he has resided in this vicinity.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Hopewell Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Orlando Brakemeyer of Mt. Vernon. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.

Mr. Marlin was born March 23, 1866 the son of William and Elizabeth (Frost) Marlin.

He was married April 4, 1888 to Lucy Turner who survives him.

One son, Terry F. Marlin and two daughters, Mrs. Hallie Todd of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ethel Hering of St. Louis also survive.

The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when it will be removed to the family home near Old Union.
