Michael Dale Lowery

Michael Dale Lowery, 53, Centralia, passed away at 5:09 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at his home after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born in Mt. Vernon on April 19, 1955, a son of Ernest Dale and Mary Ann (Mooney) Lowery.

He married Catherine Burns on June 7, 1975 in Mt. Vernon.

Michael worked has a tire builder for 32 years for Continintel Tire Co. in Mt. Vernon.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with Father Daniel Jurek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service to be held at 8 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Michael is survived by his wife, Catherine Lowery of Centralia; two daughters, Michele Ceglinski of Mt. Vernon and Sarah Mellott and husband Michael of Mt. Vernon; son, John Lowery and wife Blair of Woodlawn; six grandchildren, Clayton Ceglinski, Caitlyn Ceglinski, Sadie Mellott, Tayva Mellott, Hayden Mellott, and Gracie Lowery; a brother, Stephen Mark Lowery and wife Tracy of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Teresa Greene and husband Shepard of Redding, Calif.; an uncle, Bill Mooney and wife Michelle of Van Nuys, Calif.; an aunt, Margaret "Marg" Mooney of Mt. Vernon; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Mary Burns of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.

Michael enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the St. Mary's Catholic Church or to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Ill., 62864.
