Emeral (Foster) Page Lowery

Emeral Page Lowery, 85, of Mt. Vernon died 6 a.m. Dec. 16, 2004, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

She was born Oct. 27, 1919, to Ray and Julia (Williams) Foster in Franklin County.

She was first married to Kenneth G. Page Sr. on Feb. 8, 1936; he preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1982.

She later married Harold Lowery Nov. 11, 1989, in Mt. Vernon; he survives.

Mrs. Lowery was a dietary supervisor at Elgin State Hospital until retirement and was a member of the state Retired Employees Association. She was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Lowery of Mt. Vernon; a son, K. Gordon Page and wife Patty of Dahlgren; a daughter, Barbara Brake and husband Richard “Dick” of Marion; a stepdaughter, Becky Grothoff of Mt. Vernon; a stepson, Terry M. “Smokey” Lowery and wife Kathy of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Pam Ridings and husband Lenny of Marion, Ark., Michael Page and wife Marcia of South Elgin, Stephen Page and wife Lori of Elgin, Brenda Jones and husband John of Spring, Texas, Patty Lemongelli and husband Ralph of Jefferson City, Mo., Vanessa Shaw and husband Scott of Mt. Vernon and Adam Blackward of Mt. Vernon; twelve great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth; a brother, Coy Foster; a sister, Wilma Gibbs; and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. For those wishing, memorials may be made to Logan Street Baptist Church and will be accepted by Newell Funeral Home.
