Frieda Louise (Sursa) Loper

Frieda Louise Sursa Loper, 66, of Bacliff, Texas, and formerly of Mt. Vernon died 1:50 a.m. Feb. 28, 2004, at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas.

After many years of service, she was retired as a certified medical assistant involved in home health care.

Mrs. Loper was born Nov. 15, 1937, in Jefferson County to Howard Lavern and Alta Mae (Scrutchfield) Sursa Dusharme.

She married Edward "Dutch" Loper in Texas; he passed away.

There will be a graveside dedication 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sursa Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Those attending the dedication are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Wednesday. A memorial service was held at Rock Church in Pasadena, Texas.

Mrs. Loper is survived by her mother, Alta Mae Dusharme of Anna; a son, William H. Marks and wife Tamara of Middleburg, Fla.; a granddaughter, Tiffanie Marks of Middleburg, Fla.; sisters Evelyn A. Boswell and husband Pete of Mt. Vernon, Nancy L. Urbanski and husband Tom of Michigan City, Ind., and Anna H. Kehrer and husband Norman of Woodlawn; two aunts; an uncle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; her stepfather, Welldon Dusharme; her husband; her maternal grandparents. Arvel and Susie Scrutchfield; and her paternal grandparents, Henry and Alice Sursa.

Mrs. Loper was of the Pentecostal faith.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL. 62864.
