Gerald "Jerry" Lisenby, age 69, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, died Friday, February 17, 2006, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

He was born January 6, 1937, in Jefferson County, Illinois son of Raymond S. Lisenby and Edna Ruth (Askew) Lisenby.

He married Kay Shores on September 10, 1960 in Waltonville, Illinois.

Jerry is survived by his wife; Kay Lisenby of Mt. Vernon; one son, Kevin Lisenby and wife Sally of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; two sisters; Roseanna Thompson and husband Phil of Mt. Vernon and Janet Jines and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Ray Lisenby and wife Kelly of Scurry, Texas; four grand-daughters, Jamie Hardy and husband Nathan of Opdyke, Illinois, Ashleigh Lisenby of Mt. Vernon, Danielle Lisenby of Mt. Vernon and Jaylee Lisenby of Mt. Vernon; two great grandsons; Kaden Lisenby of Mt. Vernon and Caleb Hardy of Opdyke, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

His parents, his grandparents and a nephew: Jimmy Jines preceded him in death.

Jerry was Plant Superintendent for Hevi-Duty Electric in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Jerry was a member of the Bakerville Freewill Baptist Church, the Goshen Trail Long Rifle Club, the Nason Mining Company Regulators, the National Guard, and was a Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation was held at 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2006, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial followed at Old Orchard Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. Reverend David Shores and Reverend Russell Wolfe officiated. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Bakerville Freewill Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
