John Liebengood

AGED RESIDENT OF MT. VERNON DIED LAST NIGHT
John Liebengood, 85, Member of Pioneer Family Succumbs; Funeral Services Tomorrow

John Liebengood, aged and respected member of a pioneer Mt. Vernon family, died at his home, 1923 Casey Avenue, shortly before midnight last night. His age was 85 years, one month, and 15 days.

A carpenter, he had been retired from active life for some time, due to the infirmities of age.

He was born Dec. 8, 1851 in Delaware, Ohio, and was united in marriage with Miss Bertha L. Summers June 2, 1886, his widow surviving.

Since the age of 21 years, he had been a member of Marion Lodge No. 13, I.O.O.F, serving as a member of that lodge for considerably more than half a century. He received a 50 year medal from the local lodge some time ago.

He had not been in good health for sometime, the infirmities of age and a fall in which he fractured his shoulder recently, adding to his condition.

He was the son of John and Margaret Liebengood, both of whom preceded him in death many years ago.

Funeral services, in charge of Marion Lodge No. 13, I.O.O.F. will be held at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at Myers chapel, with Rev. R.B. Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery.

The body will remain at Myers chapel until the funeral hour.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. P.A. Clayton of Villa Park, Ill., one brother, Ed Liebengood of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Mrs. J.L. Hutchison of Mt. Vernon; and three grandchildren.
