day of January, 1881 in Jefferson County, Illinois, three miles south
of Mt. Vernon. Here he grew to manhood. On the 25th day of July, 1906
he was united in marriage with Miss Carrie McMeen, to them two childrten
have been born, Gleason and Glenn, who with their mother survive.

Mitchell, as he was familiary called, was a machinist by trade, having
worked at Evansville, Ind., was Master Mechanic at No. 9, at Frankffort
Heights, in installing the machinery of that big mine, and at the time
of his last illness, he was machinist for the C.E.& I railroad, at the
roundhouse in West Frankfort, Ill. He took sick on the 21st day of
November and grew gradually worse till the end came. All that medical
skill and loving hands could do was done, but at last after 10 weeks of
intense suffering, his constitution was not able to bear the strain any
longer, and at 1 o'clock on tuesday afternoon, January 25, 1916, he passed
peaceably away to be withe the Lord. Age 35 years and 1 day.

About four weeks before his death he called his wife to his bed and
told her he had accepted Christ as his Saviour, expressing a desire to get
well so that he could attend church with his wife and little boys. In this
faith in Christ he lived the remaining days of his life, and in this faith
he died. He was a kind husband, a loving father, a good neighbor and a hard
working man.

The body was taken to Ina and from there to the Kirk Church, where the
funeral was conducted by the Rev. C L Wood, and the body was laid to rest
in the cemetery near the church.
