Troy M. Lance

Troy M. LANCE, age 81, of Waltonville, died 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at his home.

Troy was born March 8, 1926, in Franklin County, the son of Ila F. "Dutch" and Mary M. (CAMPBELL) LANCE.

He married Mary Catherine (WALKER) on Nov. 27, 1948, in Mt. Vernon; she survives in Waltonville.

He worked at Auto Light in Mt. Vernon and then retired from Freeman Coal in 1986 after over 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. He was a member of Waltonville Amvets Post 148, the VFW Post 9153, and American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. He was also a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

Troy is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine of Waltonville; two daughters, Carmen and husband Larry E. JONES and Melody and husband Rex SCOTT both of Waltonville; one brother, J. R. LANCE and wife Pat of Waltonville; six grandchildren, Brandon JONES and wife Renah of St. Louis, Mo., BlakeJONES and wife Jean of Carlinville, Kellen MINOR and wife Krystle of Atlanta,Ga., Kasey MINOR of Waltonville, Benjamin Troy JONES of Waltonville, and SeanAlden SCOTT of Waltonville; four sisters-in-law, Imogene LANCE, Gayla WALKER, JoannWALKER and Anne WEST; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one twin brother, Coy; hismother and father-in-law, Alden and Froney WALKER; and three brothers-in-law,Jerry WALKER, David WALKER, and Al WEST.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Brother Clifford HICKS and Pastor Tom MILLER officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn.

Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 141. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.
