Fred Lampp

Fred Lampp, 74, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born in Jefferson County on May 4, 1934, a son of Claybourn R. and Leota S. (Thomason) Lampp.

He married Rosemarie Smith in Mt., Vernon on Dec. 24, 1953, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2005.

He was the owner and operator of the Maid Rite Drive-In and later automobile sales.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Brad Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. A military flag presentation will be conducted by the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Fred is survived by fiancee, Lula Mae Morris of Mt. Vernon; son, Mike Lampp and wife Vickie of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Randy Lynn Phillips Jr. and special friend Shannon Bruce of Mt. Vernon, Charity "Dawn" Austin and husband Kris of Waltonville, Rhian Brooke Boling and husband Marco of Mt. Vernon and Cody Lampp of Mt. Vernon; two great-granddaughters, Reese Austin of Waltonville and Aveyona Boling of Mt. Vernon; great-grandson, Zavier Boling of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Donald Lampp and Janie of Mt. Vernon and Wesley "Wes" J. Lampp and Betty L. of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; daughter, Rhonda K. Phillips; wife; Rosemarie; and infant sister, Rita Nadine Lampp preceded him in death.

Fred was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church, Dodds Township Trustee, Jefferson County Rural Fite Department Board, American Legion Post 141 and Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31. He loved his family and loved to play music on the keyboard and sing.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the West Salem TrinHy United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society and will be accepted at tne funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
