Isaac J. Lambert

Isaac J. Lambert of Route 3, Mt. Vernon, past president of the Jefferson county Farmer's Union, died at 11:25 last night at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was 82 years, two months and 16 days of age.

In 1961 the Illinois Farmers Union awarded its highest honor to Mr. lambert. naming him its "Man of the Year" for 1960. He was presented the Illinois Farmers Union's distinguished service award"for outstanding service and devotion to Illinois agriculture." While serving as president of the county Farmers Union, he was also a member of the state execution committee. As "Man of the Year" for 1960, he received a handsome plaque. Mr. Lambert also served as a member of Governor Otto Kerner's agricultural advisory board and as a member of Rep. George Shipley's national committee or rivers and harbors.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pulley Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Elmer Fiedler of St. Louis and the Rev. Gus Smith of Mt. Vernon will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Lambert, a retired farmer, was a railway mail clerk for 37 years for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

He was born July 15, 1884 in Jefferson county, the son of George M. and Susan (Pittman) Lambert.

On August 7, 1938, he was married, at Jerseyville, Ill., to Josie Campbell, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Morton Lambert of Mt. Vernon, a sister, Mrs. Susan Webb of Champaign, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.
