Mabel Laird

Mrs. Mabel Laird, 78, of the Heritage Nursing Home in St. Elmo, a former resident of Mt. Vernon, died yesterday at 2:20 a.m. at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham.

Mrs. Laird was born in Evansville, Ind., on Nov. 30, 1893, the daughter of Gustave and Louise Schellhase.

She was married to Jesse A. Laird, who died on April 5, 1958.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1;30 p.m. at Myers chapel, with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Old Shiloh cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.

Mrs. Laird is survived by one son, Jack E. Laird, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Ross Schellhase, Evansville, Ind.; two grandsons and three great-granchildren.
