Phoebe Ann Kirk

Mrs. James Kirk, aged 74, died of pneumonia at her home in Elk Prairie, Saturday at 7 o'clock a.m..

She was the widow of James Kirk, at one time an influential citizen of Elk Prairie Township, but who has been dead for many years.

Mrs. Kirk leaves five children surviving her; a son J. S. Kirk and four daughters, Mrs. F. P. Farthing, (Mrs.) W. T. Walker, Mrs. B. W. Rogers, all of Elk Prairie, and Mrs. A. J. Sweeten, of Spring Garden.

Mathew Kirk, the founder of the Kirk family in this county, father of James Kirk, deceased, was one of the early pioneers and bore a prominent part of the county's early history.

The funeral of Mrs. Kirk occurred Sunday at 12 o'clock at Kirk Cemetery in Gun Prairie.
