Curtis Kirk

Curtis KIRK, 78, formerly of 1121 North St. and late of Jeffersonian Nursing Home, died 10:30 p.m. June 21, 1990.

Mr. KIRK was employed in maintenance at Illinois Bell Telephone Co. until retirement.

He was born October 19, 1911, in Bonnie, a son of John "Pinky" and Lourana (HALE) KIRK. November 28, 1952 he married Verna O. DOBBS TAYLOR, who died June 2, 1981.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home with Mike HOKE officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mt. KIRK is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Larry (EARLENE) OSBORN of Nason and Mrs. Raymond (VANETTA) LIPE of Darien; one stepson, Jerry TAYLOR and wife, MaLinda, of Andrews, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy BRUMMITT of Bonnie and Mrs. Retha CARROLL of Mt. Vernon; 15 step grandchildren; 16 step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. KIRK was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, two stepsons and one step grandson.

Mr. KIRK was an Army veteran of World War II. He enlisted October 3, 1943 and was discharged March 17, 1944. He was a member of Southwest Christian Church.
