Phyllis L. Karch, 92, of Dix, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at her home.

She was born Tuesday, April 15, 1919, in Cache, to Loy and Myrtle (Barry) Jones.

She married Ralph L. Karch Sr. in Mt. Vernon on Sept. 23, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2007.

Phyllis was a mental health technician at the State of Illinois Murray Center in Centralia.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with Father John Iffert officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph L. Karch Jr. and wife Nancy of Nashville and Martin B. Karch and wife Janet of Woodlawn; four daughters, Teresa L. Richmond of Shelbyville, Ind., Mary Margaret Staley and husband Jerry of Dix, Rebecca A. Butts and husband Dale of Woodburn, Ore., and Katherine E. Karch and husband Saleem Khan of LaGrange; a brother, William H. Jones and wife Ruth of Mt. Vernon; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, her husband and two brothers, Dr. John Barry Jones and Pat Jones preceded her in death.
