Florence (Bullock) Johnson

Florence Bullock Johnson, 87, of Fort Worth, Texas, and formerly of Mt. Vernon died 5:34 a.m. July 16, 2005, at Bethesda Assisted Living in Fort Worth, Texas.

She worked as a secretary for C&EI Railroad and later was employed as a bookkeeper at Morton's Dress Shop.

Mrs. Johnson was born April 9, 1918, in Jefferson County to Virgil M. and Minerva Lee (Dare) Bullock.

She married Robert S. Johnson March 23, 1945, in Murphysboro; he preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1995.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Billy Hahs will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a brother, Marian H. Bullock and wife Margaret of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Lucille Bullock of Eldorado; and nieces and nephews Richard E. Ward of Austin, Texas, Ann (Ward) Randall of Mt. Vernon, John R. Ward of Parker, Colo., Elaine (Bullock) Hall of Canton, Mich., Joyce (Bullock) Moulton of Georgetown, Texas, Annelle (Bullock) Miller of Newburgh, Ind., Linda (Bullock) Ralston of Golconda, Sarah Jo Patterson of Rockford, John "Jack" Johnson of West Foley, Ala., D'Anne Fogerty Verson of Tulsa, Okla., Patricia "Pat" Fogerty Atkinson of Tulsa, Okla., and Martha McCrady of Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Dr. Aaron Bullock and Robert V. Bullock; and two sisters, Lela Bullock Robinson and Leota Bullock Ward.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, Texas, and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter CH, also of Fort Worth, Texas.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the West Salem Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
