Mary (Oakley) Pettit Johnson

Mrs. Mary Pettit Johnson died at 7:45 last night at her home, 1212 Main street, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Church of Christ, of which she was a member. The Rev. Herbert J. WILSON will officiate and burial will be at Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel.

Mrs. Johnson was born September 14, 1890 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of William Calvin OAKLEY and Diana M. (MAYNOR) Oakley. She was a lifetime resident of this community.

She first married Carl Pettit, who died in 1951.

She was later married to Norman A. Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1957.

She is survived by one son, Calvin W. Pettit of Washington D.C. and a half sister, Mrs. Mae Brown of Mt. Vernon.
