John R. Hughey Jr.

John R. Hughey Jr., 38, Route 3, was pronounced dead on arrival 8:34 am Dec. 13, 1988, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, following a traffic accident near Centralia on Green Street Road.

Mr. Hughey was a driver for Guaranteed Air Freight & Forwarding Co.

Mr. Hughey was born Oct. 19, 1950, in Mt. Vernon, a son of John R. and Doris J. (Brown) Hughey Sr.

Services will be 1:30 pm Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Buss Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 pm today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hughey is survived by his father of Mt. Vernon, one son Jonathan Hughey, four brothers, Tom R. Hughey and wife, Denielle, James D. Hughey, William E. Hughey and wife Kathy, and Frank L. Hughey and wife Faith, all of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. David (Brenda J.) Richardson, Mrs. Gary (Gloria J.) Shirrell and Gladys Hughey, all of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hughey was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a member of American Legion Post 141 and Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755. Mr. Hughey was a baptist.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Jean Hughey and one sister.
