Doris J. (Brown) Hughey

Doris J. Hughey, 51, 826 George St., died at 2:17 pm Thursday in Mt. Vernon Hospital.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on March 30, 1933, the daughter of Williamand Emma (Buford) Brown.

On Aug. 14, 1948, in Mayfield Ky., shemarried John R. Hughey, who survives.

At her request, private graveside services will be held for the familyat 10 am Saturday at the Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. MerleFullerton and the Rev, Buss Hart officating.

Mrs. Hughey requested that there be no public visitation. Memorialsmay be made to the babtist Childrens Home in Carmi and will be acceptedat the Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to her husband, survivors include five sons, John R. Hughey Jr., Tom R. Hughey, James D. Hughey, William E. Hughey and Frank L. Hughey, all of Mt. Vernon; Three daughters, Mrs David (Brenda J.) Richardson, Mrs. Gary (Gloria J.) Shirrell, and Gladys Hughey, all of Mt. Vernon; one brother, William " Bud " Brown of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Edna) Keef of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Bruce (Betty) Cope of Bluford; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hughey was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital until she became ill. She was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church and also attended the Casey Avenue Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Marie Hughey, one brother, Frank Brown, and her parents.
