William Wallace "Bill" Hughey

W. W. (Bill) Hughey Of Bonnie Died At Age 61

William Wallace (Bill) Hughey, 61, of Route 1, Bonnie, died 5:07 p.m. Aug. 25, 1994, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

He was a farmer, cattle and horseman and worked on construction.

Mr. Hughey was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Jefferson County, a son of William Omar and Edna Ruth (Wallace) Hughey.

Sept. 5, 1954, he married Yvonne Stervinou of Montreal, Canada, at Kinnley Air Force Base in St. George, Bermuda. She survives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mr. Hughey is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hughey of Bonnie; three daughters, Ruth Ann Williams and husband Jeff of Mt. Vernon, Mary Ann George and husband Captain Robert S. George of Goldsboro, N.C., and Laurie Ann Tate and husband Greg of Mt. Vernon; and his mother, Edna Ruth Hughey of Bonnie. Mr. Hughey was lovingly called Grandpa Hoopie by his seven grandchildren, Jami, Jennifer, Nathan, Shane, Wade, Cameron William, and Kalyn.

He is also survived by a brother, Charles E. Hughey and wife Susan and their children, Carmen Hughey Deichman and husband Chris, Monica Shaw and husband Scott, and Marsha Hughey, all of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Hughey served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 as a military policeman. He was a member of Labor Local 520 at Benton. He was a member of American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
