William L. ‘Billy' Hughes

William L. “Billy” Hughes, 34, of Waltonville, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, on North Hall Lane, located north of Waltonville, as the result of a motorcycle-deer wreck.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street, in Mt. Vernon, IL 62864, with Bro. Jeff Davis officiating. Burial will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, to the funeral home. Those wishing to donate to the Billy Hughes Memorial Fund may do so at the funeral home. For more information about the memorial fund, call (618) 246-0100.

He was born April 6, 1971, in Springfield, the son of William W. and Geraldine M. (Tomazic) Hughes.

He was a member of E.B.O.L.T. Local 773, Christian Motorcyclists, and an active member of HOG.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Geraldine Hughes, of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Kourtnie and Kalee Hughes, of Mt. Vernon; a stepdaughter, Hannah Forby, of Benton; two sisters, Tammy Roberts of Sesser, and Barbie Dobbs and husband, Carey, of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Richard “Dicky” Brewer and wife, Barbara, of Tamaroa; his maternal grandmother, Zelma Tomazic, of Mt. Vernon; two nieces and five nephews, Samantha and Dustin Brewer, Shelbi and Steven Roberts, Ryan, Zachary and Logan Dobbs.

His parental grandparents and maternal grandfather preceded him in death.
