Alma Arnold "Bo" Hudson

Alma Arnold "Bo" Hudson, 90, Mt. Vernon, died 6:05 p.m. Jan. 12, 1999, at Crossroads Community Hospital.

Mr. Hudson was a retired racehorse trainer.

He was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Panold County, Texas, a son of Ernest and Aquilla (Weeks) Hudson. July 8, 1940, in St. Louis, he married Maxine Black, who survives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joel Whiteside officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 141, Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hudson is survived by one son, Thomas D. Hudson of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Star Myers, Ian Hobbs and Crystal Hudson; great-granddaughter Miranda Myers; two sisters, Josie McGuire of Marshall, Texas, and Irene Dollins of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hudson was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 141 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1376, Mt. Vernon. He served on the military funeral detail for many years.

He was president of the carpenters local union for several years.

He first served in the U.S. Army from July 19, 1926, to Jan. 4, 1927, and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Aug. 26, 1943 to Oct. 22, 1945.

Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
