S. Lucille (Brennen) Hohl

S. Lucille Hohl, 93, of Mt. Vernon, died 9:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Residential Living Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1920, in Zeigler, the daughter of Pete and Goldia (Moyers) Brennen.

She married Robert Hohl on March 18, 1952, and he preceded her in death in May 1969.

Lucille was an auditor with the Internal Revenue Service for 25 years until retirement.

She was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, the Ladies' Sodality of the church, Chapter 1624 (W.O.T.M.) of Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755 (L.O.O.M.), the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).

She is survived by daughter, Betty Riley and husband John of Dix; three grandchildren, Melissa O’Bryan and husband Bill of Salem, Jennifer Hefner and husband Ryan of Kell and Isaiah Riley of Dix; two sisters, Patricia Webb and husband Lindell of Columbia and Sharon Kraft and husband Timothy of Towanda; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and six nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Barbara Hohl-Dees; and one grandson, John Riley IV.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with the Very Reverend John Iffert officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Evening visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Morning visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the St. Mary School, Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and to Hospice of the Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
