Barbara Ann (Brennen) Hohl-Dees

Barbara Ann Hohl-Dees, 59, of Mt. Vernon, went to be with the Lord at 10:47 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Sunday, June 27, 1954, in Springfield, the daughter of Robert and Lucille (Hohl) Brennen.

She married Jeffrey Lee Dees on June 20, 1998, in Mt. Vernon.

Barb worked at the Appellate Court House in Mt. Vernon for 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, was past president and an active member of the Junior Women's Club and she and her husband Jeff were former members of Mt. Vernon Eagles Aerie Lodge 2791 and Mt. Vernon Gun & Sportsman Club. Barb will be deeply missed by all her loved her.

She is survived by her mother, Lucille Hohl of Mt. Vernon; husband, Jeffrey Lee Dees of Mt. Vernon; stepson, Brandon Lee Dees and speical friend Lillian of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Brittany Kilborn and husband Nick of Indianapolis; two stepgrandchildren, Benjamin Dees and Zoe Kilborn of Indianapolis; sister, Betty Riley and husband John of Dix; nieces, Melissa O'Bryan and husband Billy of Salem and Jenifer Hefner and husband Ryan of Kell; nephew, Isaiah Riley of Dix; great-nephew, Devin Riley of Dix; great-niece, Kelsey Jenkins and husband Cody of O'Fallon; great-great-niece, Emily Jenkins of O'Fallon; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and one nephew, John Riley IV.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Mt. Vernon with the Very Reverend Father John Iffert officiating.

Her body will be cremated and a gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to St. Mary School and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
