Ethel Jennieve (Sigworth) Hodge

Ethel Hodge Of Bonnie Died At Age 84

Ethel Jennieve Hodge, 84, Bonnie, died 11 a.m. Aug. 9, 1990, at her home.

Mrs. Hodge was a schoolteacher until retirement.

She was born July 3, 1906, in Sweetwater, Okla., a daughter of Joseph and Lora Lizzie (Wagner) Sigworth.

March 20, 1926, in Marion, she married Delbert Renzo Hodge, who died May 31, 1974.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Fry & Frick Funeral Home in Waltonville with the Rev. Dan Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Abner Cemetery in Nason.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hodge is survived by two sons, Merlin Hodge and wife, Carolyn, of Mt. Vernon and Kent Hodge and wife Joyce, of Sesser; one daughter, Mrs. Warren (Maxine) Darnell of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hodge attended Southern Illinois University of Normal Teacher’s College in Carbondale. She taught in Jefferson County for 32 years, including 20 years in Nason and two years in Waltonville. Mrs. Hodge was a Baptist. She was a member of Jefferson County Home Bureau Extension and Jeffeson County Historical Society.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
