Arthur S. Hodge

Arthur S. Hodge, 73, of 811 S. 18th St., died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

He operated a locksmith shop in Mt. Vernon since 1942 and did lawn mower repairs and mechanical work.

Funeral services will be held at 1;30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hughey Funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Beasley and the Rev. A. B. Clodfelder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the Hughey Funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Hodge was born Sept. 8, 1906, in Jefferson County, the son of Kenneth and Zora (McLaughlin) Hodge.

In 1933, he was married to Bertha Clark, who died in 1951.

On Nov. 26, 1953, he married Dorothy long, who survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Zora Hodge of Mt. Vernon; one son, Tom Long of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Betty) King of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Marlin Hodge of Woodlawn, and Allen Hodge of Mt. Vernon, two sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Alice) Hester of Escondido, Calif., and Mrs. Malcolm (Arline) Leffler of Mt. Vernon; and five grandchildren, Billy Tom King, Rhonda King, Melody King, Rodney Stuart King and Dwayne Long, all of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by one brother, one son and his father.

He was a 1926 graduate of the Mt. Vernon High School and never missed a class reunion.

Mr. Hodge was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church; United Methodist Men; American Association of Locksmiths, and the Little Egypt Roadrunners Camping Club.
