Willis Russell Hicks

WILLIS RUSSELL HICKS (died December 3, 1957)

Willis Russell Hicks, of RFD 2, Mt. Vernon, died at 8:20 this morning at Good Samaritan Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was 44 years, one month and three days of age.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Pulley Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bird Green will officiate and burial will be in Old Shiloh cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Hicks was born October 30, 1913 in Mt. Vernon, the son of June and Ollie (Moyer) Hicks.

On April 9, 1938 he was married, in St. Charles, Mo., to Maxine Daniels, who survives.

He was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church.

Besides his wife and father, he is survived by one son, Willis Russell, Jr.; seven daughters, Mrs. Joeann Bacon of Cherry Valley, Ill., Mrs. Wilma Buchanan of RFD 2, Mt. Vernon, and Betty, Rosemary, Hallie Mae, Marilyn and Vickie, all at home; one grandchild; five brothers, Lloyd, William, Harry and Kenneth, all of Mt. Vernon and Carl of Caseyville, Ill.; and four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Reece and Mrs. Hallie East of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Virginia Bushong of Woodlawn and Mrs. Ruth Shockley of Maplewood, Mo.
